Error 1646 when installing QuickBooks

Error 1646 when installing QuickBooks






When installing QuickBooks Premier on a computer where QuickBooks Pro of the same year is installed, or when installing QuickBooks Accountant on a computer that already has a Premier installation of the same year, you may receive this error:
  • Error 1646 installing quickbooks.msi uninstallation of the update package is not supported
How to fix it:

You will need to uninstall the existing installation of QuickBooks before installing QuickBooks Premier.

Check to insure you are installing the current version of QuickBooks (ex: QuickBookPremier2015_R5). If not, get installation from the Intuit website directly.
