Have QuickBooks file has stopped responding suddenly? If Yes then you too are a victim of QuickBooks corruption like others. Sometime when you try to open QuickBooks file, you receive below error message:
This error message may occur due to one of the following reasons:
- If QBWUSER.INI file got damaged.
- Corruption in hard disk.
- If Program file got damaged.
Try below methods to solve problem:
Reboot system: First reboot system. Now open QuickBooks file and check for error, if you are still getting error then try to disable anti virus program temporarily. If disabling anti virus program also does not solve the issue then go to next method.
Delete EntitlementDataStore.ecml file: QuickBooks also display above error message if the information entered at the time of installation of QuickBooks is incorrect or if the file containing that information is corrupted. In this case, it is important to delete the file to resolve the error. Follow below steps to delete EntitlementDataStore.ecml file:
- First close QuickBooks file.
- Go to Windows Start button-> Run.
- In the Run dialog box copy and paste below information:
For QuickBooks 2013: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8
For QuickBooks 2012: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v6.0
For QuickBooks 2011: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v6.0
For QuickBooks 2010: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v6.0
4. Now right click the EntitlementDataStore.ecml file and delete.
If deleting EntitlementDataStore.ecml file does not solve issue then go to next step.
Rename QBWUSE.INI file: Follow below steps to rename the QBWUSER>INI file:
- Go to Start-> My Computer-> Tools-> Folder Option.
- Go to View tab.
- In the Advanced Settings-> Hidden files and folders-> Show hidden files and folders and click Ok.
- Now go to My Computer-> C drive->C:\Documents and Settings\[ user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Intuit\QuickBooks [year]
- Right click the QBWUSER>INI file and rename it by replacing .INI with .INIold.
If you can open QuickBooks file after renaming QBWUSER>INI or EntitlementDataStore.ecml file then try to open a sample file:
- Open QuickBooks file and select Open a Sample File.
- Click Sample Product Based Business.
- If the sample file does not open then try next solution.
Install QuickBooks Component Repair tool: Download and install this tool on system and then run it. After running this tool, reboot system and again try to open QuickBooks file.
Uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks: If none of the above solution works then uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks file. It may solve the issue.
